El Salvador Resumes Poultry Exports to Honduras

Eggs from Salvadoran farms will be able to enter Honduras by the end of December 2009.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

The health protocol in place between both countries establishes that, in order to enter Honduras, Salvadoran poultry products must come from farms without vaccination against avian influenza, explained Medardo Lizano, Salvadoran Agriculture and Livestock Minister.

From Elsalvador.com: "In July, Honduras detected antibodies in Salvadoran eggs, and blocked the product ... 'We have confirmed that... what happened is that two companies certified for exporting had vaccinated their farms', affirmed Lizano. Honduras agreed to resume egg imports when both farms had non-vaccinated birds".
