El Salvador: Protests Over Advertising Tenders

Entrepreneurs in the sector say that several companies have stopped taking part in tenders to provide advertising services to the Ministry of Tourism, and denounced a lack of transparency.

"Biased and manipulated without transparency" are how private agencies describe the tenders run by the Ministry of Tourism to hire advertising services, according to complaints received by the guild. Panama: Transparency in Tourism Promotion

The new tender for international advertising services by the Panama Tourism Authority should be published by December and the contract should be for a period of two years.

The Tourism Authority is preparing to announce in September an international tender to hire an advertising agency to promote the country's tourism destinations abroad.

According to Jesus Sierra, head of the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), the contract will be for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extending it for a year.
