A new online system has been announced for processing food and beverage registrations, renewing those already held and making mutual recognitions within the framework of the customs union.

"...The SISAM is a module of the National Health Information System (SUIS) of the Ministry of Health, which streamlines internal and external processes of the Environmental Health Department, and its general objective is to provide users with heath registrations for food products and the mutual recognition processes included in the Central American Technical Regulations (RTCA)."
A statement from the Ministry of Economy details that "...Thanks to the interconnection with the Regional Integration System for Health Registration (SIRRS) - SIECA, the SISAM optimizes times, reduces costs for users, letting them make payments for their registrations or surveys online in a 24/7 schedule from any part of world, users can monitor the status of their request from their office and will be informed via e-mail of the status of their product registration, among other options."

In Guatemala, a workshop to train professionals from the Central American region on the use of the Regional Integration System for Health Registries is being organized for June 18.
From a statement issued by the Sieca:
The Center for Studies for Economic Integration (CEIE) at the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIECA) is organizing a workshop to train professionals from the Central American region on the use of the Regional Integration System for Health Registries (SIRRS).The objective is to promote the use of the IT platform and train personnel in the private sector in its use and exploitation.
A new web platform belonging to the SIECA aims to simplify and harmonize procedures for the sanitary registration of processed foods and beverages in Central America.
A statement issued by the Sieca explains that"...TheRegional Integration System for Health Records(SIRRS) is a regional automated system for the recognition of medical records to be administered by SIECA and aims to simplify, harmonize and automate procedures for sanitary registration of processed foods and beverages in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. "
An announcement has been made that from March food businesses will be able to register with the Ministry of Health online, and from 2016 they will be able to digitally register products.

The Salvadoran Industry Association, ASI, held an informative conference on changes in the procedures for registration of food, in order to inform entrepreneurs about the improvements that the Department of Environmental Health, Ministry of Health has made in the procedure for registering both locally produced and imported food.
Trade ministers from the region are promoting the regional recognition of sanitary permits by its digitization and online availability.
Trade ministers from the region analyzed uploading permissions to a web platform in order to expedite the process of trading regionally. The initiative would allow an exporter registered in Guatemala not to have to send physical documents to another Central American country in order to register..
