El Salvador: New Road Infrastructure

With a $ 3.2 million investment, the project “Improving Rural Road Section CA2 (The Coast)”, got underway.

The Rural Road Improvement Project Section CA2 (The Coast)-Hato de los Reyes, Zacatecoluca, in the department of La Paz, comprises the paving 8.13 kilometers of road designated as departmental road and classified as rural road, having two lanes of three meters wide each, one in each direction.

The project starts at road El Litoral kilometer 66.73 due south and ending in kilometer 75.23 Km when the road reaches Hato de los Reyes in the city of Zacatecoluca. Of the 8.27 kilometers, 6.15 kilometers miles are flat, 1.62 km of undulations and 0.5 km of semi-mountainous terrain.

$18 million Invested in Rural Roads

The Nicaraguan "Renovation of Productive Roads" program will repair 460km of rural roads.

"The 460 kilometers comprises 45 stretches of rural road, distributed between the regions of Boaco, Chinandega, Chontales, Estelí, León, Managua, Matagalpa and Rivas. This is the route to market for a total of $54 million worth of products such as corn, sorghum , rice, beans, cheese, cattle, pigs and milk,” according to an article on Elnuevodiario.com.ni.

El Salvador: $15 million for Roads

An IDB press release states:

The program will identify priority areas and carry out road works in order to maximize the economic and social benefits to local people.

$35 million will finance rural roads, supervision and institutional strengthening

El Salvador will improve rural roads in areas with high productive potential with a $35 million loan approved by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The IDB loan will finance the rehabilitation and/or improvement of some 80 km of rural roads within a new approach to rural roads management which enhances the investment planning and programming process, optimizing cost and project impact.

Guatemala to Invest $37 Million in Rural Infrastructure

The highway project will interconnect several regions of the country with the capital and aims to make them more competitive.

The $37 million construction will enable rural Guatemala to better compete by providing roads capable of serving demand created and will benefit 6.6 million people.
