El Salvador Invites Tenders to Supply School Uniforms for 2011

The $75 million investment by the Ministry of Education (MINED) signals the beginning of the bidding process for 2011's uniforms.

The process will benefit more than a million students and comprises the making of 2.8 million uniforms as well as 1.4 million pairs of shoes.

MINED believes that one of its biggest challenges is to have the uniforms ready on time, according to Diariocolatino.com. The minister and El Salvador's Vice-president, Sánchez Cerén, commented that, "it is a process that can take many months, which is why we are working on getting it started as soon as possible".

Deadline Today for Bidding for School Packages

Today is the deadline for bidding for providing school materials to the Education Ministry of El Salvador.

This government acquisition comprises uniforms for students and school supplies.

"Interested businesses have until today's afternoon to register at any of the 262 municipal halls in the country, or any Ministry offices...", reports Diariocolatino.com.

El Salvador Will Purchase 6.5 Million Meters of Fabric

August 2009

They will be used in tailoring 1.4 million uniforms, to be handed out to students in 2010.

The Ministry of Education (Mined), published the tender terms for the purchase of 6.5 million meters of dacron and bonel fabric, which will be used to tailor student uniforms.

Journalist Lilian Martínez writes in ElSalvador.com: "The education minister said delivery of the uniforms is a component of the anti crisis plan announced by President Mauricio Funes".
