The Technical Secretary of the Presidency, Alex Segovia, said at a press conference that this project will be developed in five years and a consultation process will be initiated straight away in order to build a "technically consistent" proposal.

Also, so that "politically it has the support of all sectors of the country and to turn a state policy into a national project", said the official.

For his part, the deputy representative of the MCC in El Salvador, Kenneth Miller, said the choice was made because of the "good implementation, transparency, efficiency" with which the Government implemented the first disbursement for the development of the north of the country.

In addition, for the "good performance of this government in its political, social and economic indicators."

The representative of the MCC welcomed the government's performance and its commitment to the development of the country and stressed that the relationship between the U.S. and El Salvador is "so strong as that we will continue to work and look for ways to help" with plans to alleviate poverty.

The Secretary Segovia described the eligibility for the second award as one of the "best pieces of news" for El Salvador in the next few years and insisted that "it is a project that has to be seen as a national project."
