El Salvador: Barceló Enters the Salvadoran Market

The hotel chain has announced the purchase of a five-star 205 room hotel in San Salvador, and is preparing for July 26 to open under the name Barceló San Salvador

The hotel chain which acquired the hotel is located in the capital in the commercial and business sector of San Benito. The hotel has two restaurants, a bar, outdoor pool, gym, health and beauty center, parking and 12 meeting rooms which can accommodate from 10 to 800 people.

Elmundo.sv reports that "...Although the company has not explicitly reported the name of the hotel, and the amount of the operation, in the statement released yesterday photographs of the Hilton Princess Hotel were included. The operation will allow Barceló Hotels & Resorts to consolidate its presence in Central America, and this will be the second opening to take place in this region during 2016, after that of Occidental Panama City, which opened this April, said Juan José Ribas, CEO of Barceló for Central and South America."

"... Quoted in the press, Ribas said the arrival of Barceló to El Salvador "confirms a revival of the market and the new brand architecture of the group helps us with the entry into new destinations, consolidation in others where we are already have a presence and specialization of hotels by segment".
