El Salvador Award of 170 MW of Renewable Energy

Of the 169.9 MW awarded, 50 MW corresponds to wind energy at a price of $98.78 / MWh and the rest to photovoltaic solar generation projects, with prices of between $49.55 and $67.24 per MW / h.

From a statement issued by Delsur:

San Salvador, January 11, 2017. The Electricity Distribution company DELSUR, on behalf of other distributors in the country, the National Energy Council (CNE), the Promoter of Exports and Investments of El Salvador (PROESA), and the General Superintendency of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET) revealed today the companies that were awarded contracts after the evaluation stage of the economic proposals which represented the culmination of the process to tender 170 MW (megawatts) of power and associated energy using sources based on wind and photovoltaic generation.

As a result of this evaluation a total of 169.9 MW, 50 MW of wind technology projects and 119.9 MW of solar photovoltaic technology projects, were awarded.  Prices were of $49.55 per MWh for solar and $98.78 per MWh for wind. As stated in the legislation, the SIGET unveiled ceiling prices for each of the blocks in the tender process. The ceiling price for wind technology was $105.30 per MW and for photovoltaic technology it was $113.14 MW.

Renewable Energy: 8 MW Awarded

Of the 28 MW of renewable energy tendered in El Salvador, only 8.48 MW were awarded, because most of the participants exceeded the maximum price established by Siget.

On March 11, DELSUR held the opening ceremony of the tender process for the generation of 28 MW of photovoltaic energy and with biogas, of which 8.48 MW were awarded in projects representing a $10 million investment.

El Salvador: 29 Companies Bid for 170 MW

19 companies submitted 29 bids in the tender for renewable energy, of which 25 correspond to photovoltaic solar energy and 4 to wind power.

San Salvador, 26 October 2016. The Electricity Distribution company DELSUR, in coordination with other distributors in the country, held this day the act of receiving both technical and economic offers from all parties interested in investing in renewable energy generation based solar photovoltaic and wind power, as part of the process to tender 170 megawatts (MW) of power and associated energy.

Contracts Awarded for 94 MW of Renewable Energy

July 2014

Four companies who submitted bids with prices between $101.9 and $123.4 per MWh were selected for the power supply for the period 2016-2036.

The winning companies, as reported by Distribuidora de Electricidad DELSUR are: UDP-Neoen Almaval, with a price of 101.9 / MWh and 60 MW of allocated power, Solar Reserve Development Co.

El Salvador: Offers In For 100 MW Renewable Energy Tender

DELSUR has reported the results of the offers, which ranged from between 6 MW and 60 MW priced between $101.9 and $123.4 per MWh.

La Distribuidora de Electricidad DELSUR, together with the Superintendency of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET), and the National Energy Council (CNE) announced this day that the companies UDP Neoen-Almaval, UDP Proyecto La Trinidad and Solar Reserve Development Co. II, LLC were the recommended proponent bidders at the end of the stage of opening of economic offers in the tender process for 100 MW (megawatts) of power and associated energy based on photovoltaic energy sources, this being another process which is transparent to all citizens.
