El Salvador: Record Price Coffee Season

41.20% of the crop has been sold at very good prices, although below this year´s maximum price of $200.50 at the NYSE.

The president of the Salvadoran Coffee Council (CSC), Ana Elena Escalante told Elsalvador.com, "... on the 31st of August, 677,470 bushels had been sold at an average price of $ 163.57, as of September 30th 53.278 units more were sold at $ 189.19 and by October 21st, another 93.622 at $ 165.50."

El Salvador: 54% of Exported Coffee is "Special"

The 2010/11 harvest begins on 1 October this year and ends on 30 September 2011.

Two months in, it is estimated that total harvests for the year will be 2.1 million hundredweight, meaning that sold to date equates to 20%.

Production of Salvador coffee could drop by 3.7%

The Salvadoran Coffee Council (CSC) expects a slight drop in the coffee harvest for this year.

Ricardo Espitia, director of the institution, is predicting a harvest of 2 million quintals, which would mean a decrease of 3.7%.
