El Salvador: $59 Million for Water Treatment Plant

Congress has approved a loan from the French government to finance the construction of the water treatment plant in Las Pavas.

From a statement issued by the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador:

With the aim of finalising the funding for the "Project for the Renovation of a Drinking Water Treatment Plant in Pavas and Network adduction", representatives of the Legislative Assembly approved a financial protocol between the governments of France and El Salvador, for an amount of € 53 million (US $59 million).

The financial protocol was signed on December 7, 2015, and sets out the obligations between the government of France and El Salvador, related to the financing and implementation of the project and indicates the modalities and procedures for the use thereof, the granting of contracts, monitoring, evaluation and control of activities to be carried out.

Today the commitment of the Republic of France to grant resources for the "Renovation Project of the Water Treatment Plant in Las Pavas", amounting to €53 million euros was formalized.

El Salvador: $64 million to Renovate Water Treatment Plant

Preparations are being made for the expansion works, infrastructure renovation and replacement of equipment in the water treatment plant Las Pavas, in the department of La Libertad.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) has approved a loan the to Republic of El Salvador in the amount of $64.4 million to finance the renovation project on Works for the Collection, Purification and Treatment of the Electromechanical Water Plant Las Pavas, the most important source of drinking water El Salvador.
