The Delsur project to build the Masajapa substation was developed after a request from an industrial client for an exclusive line for its facilities.

According to Elsalvador.com, the manager of operations, William Quinteros, indicated that "the new structure will be ready for future expansion. Among the future projects highlighted is the installation of a transformer of 5,000 kilo volt-ampere to enhance service quality for about 15,000 clients, including the 5,000 that are currently served from a substation 13 kilometers away."

The substation and new distribution line will improve the business' service to its clients in the area of San Juan Opico, San Matías, and Quezaltepeque.
