Higher diesel prices spur 50 percent increase in Honduran freight charges

Truckers in Honduras say they have had to raise freight tariffs by 50 percent to compensate for higher diesel prices.

A report has been released with the average consumer prices for Gasoline and Diesel in Central America, effective at week 18 to August 24, 2013, based on official prices and monitoring or surveys carried out by the various Directorates of Hydrocarbons or equivalent in the capital of each Central American country.

Costa Rica: Highest fuel prices in the region

Costa Rica has the highest fuel prices in Central America and Honduras has the lowest.

According to a report presented last week by the Guatemalan Ministry of Energy and Mining and which periodically measures the public price of the main fuels, points out that in Costa Rica the price of a gallon of super gasoline is higher than $5.29; regular gasoline is $5.21; and diesel is $5.25.
