From the statement of FOMILENIO II:

November 16th, 2018. Vice President Óscar Ortiz, authorities from FOMILENIO II and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) met with mayors from the country's paracentral and eastern regions to coordinate efforts and begin construction and rehabilitation of 27 educational centers.

The meeting was attended by 10 mayors from La Paz, Usulután, San Miguel and La Unión, who expressed their support for making construction permits more flexible.

FOMILENIO II will launch between December 2018 and February 2019 the tender for the construction of 27 educational centers, in 18 municipalities of these departments. The investment is around $30 million, and it is expected that these works will be delivered in the last quarter of 2019.

FOMILENIO II's intervention in educational infrastructure includes a total of 46 institutions (4 of which are new) in San Salvador, Ahuachapán, Sonsonate, La Libertad, La Paz, Usulután, San Miguel and La Unión. All these institutions will become integral centers, in other words, the main headquarters of each integrated system (grouping of educational centers) to implement the Full Time Inclusive School (SI-EITP) model.

Nationwide, 349 schools implement the SI-EITP model with the support of FOMILENIO II, benefiting 80,000 students per year.

Investment in SI-EITPs includes infrastructure, furniture, equipment and teaching materials. On average, $1 million is invested in each comprehensive center and an estimated $200,000 to equip the educational centers which are part of the system.

FOMILENIO II invests $100.2 million to improve the quality of education through a modern educational system with high quality standards, providing students with knowledge and skills to prepare them to enter the workforce and motivate them to continue their education.
