Ecuadoran Banks sets up shop in Panama

The Superintendence of Bank is processing the request for a General License from the Bolivarian Bank (Panama), a company that was organized and registered under Ecuadoran laws.

This will be the third Ecuadoran bank to enter the market in the last three years with a general license.
The first was Produbanks (Panama) S.A. which began operations in 2006; then there was the Pichincha Bank.

Peru’s Interbank Wants to Operate in Panama

“Banco Internacional del Perú S.A.”, also known as Interbank, requested permission before the Panamanian Banking Superintendence to operate in the country.

The bank requested a temporary permit, in order to register in Panama as a foreign society. Then it will request an International Banking License to operate in the country.

The Panamanian Superintendent of Banks has a pending general license application for the opening of a new bank.

The request was submitted by a group funded with Panamanian capital and, as published in La Prensa which had access to view preliminary reports, the new finance company could be able to begin operations at the end of 2009.

Industrial Bank authorized to operate in El Salvador

Industrial Bank got the "ok" to enter the Salvadoran market, where it will have a big market of customers.

The inauguration of the first agency will occur during the first semester of 2009, the company's general director, Diego Pulido, said to

El Salvador will be the third country outside Guatemala where the bank has set up operations; in 2008 they opened in Honduras, where they acquired the operations of the Banco del Pais bank.

The Industrial Bank of El Salvador is completing the procedures at the Financial System Superintendence to formally become a bank.

According to the Superintendence, shareholders will hold 1% or more of the social capital of said company which is being created and includes: Banco Industrial S.A. (from Guatemala), Construagro S.A. (from El Salvador), y José Luis Zablah Touché (from El Salvador).
