Ecuador - El Salvador Trade Agreement

Flowers, white goods, ceramics, leather products and cocoa products are among the list of 207 Ecuadorian products that will enter El Salvador with tariff preferences.

Tuesday, July 25, 2017

The agreement creates tariff preferences for 207 subheadings, which represent 92% of exports to El Salvador.  They will enter without paying any fees. This translates into the growth of 20% of Ecuador's exports.

From a statement issued by the Assembly of Ecuador:

Intensive dialogues were held between Salvadoran and Ecuadorian entrepreneurs, prior to the approval of the Partial Scope Agreement on Economic Complementation between the Republic of El Salvador and Ecuador.

From the outset, the parties were only interested in a partial agreement, because the processes are simpler and, in addition, only the productive sectors that are really interested are involved. Finally, the approval of the Plenary of Ecuador was given unanimously today.

The agreement creates tariff preferences for 207 subheadings, which represent 92% of exports to El Salvador.  They will enter without paying any fees.  This translates into the growth of 20% of Ecuador's exports.
