Dutch Trade Mission Visits Honduras

A delegation representing 30 horticultural businesses from Holland will arrive in the first week of September.

The companies will hold meetings with their Honduran counterparts and visit the main fruit and vegetable producing regions of the country.

"Several Honduran companies have successfully exported their products to Holland, which represents a positive precedent to establishing new trade channels with the old continent," Juan Carlos Ordóñez, Honduran vice-minister for Livestock, commented to La Tribuna.

Honduran Agricultural Products Going to Canada

The improved tariff conditions that will come with the entry into force of the trade deal with Canada will facilitate entry into a country which imports 30% of the food it consumes.

From a press release issued by the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Office:

Honduran fruits and vegetables will be among the products most exported into Canada once the free trade agreement between the two countries enters into force, experts say.

Taking part in the event held in Atlanta, Georgia, between the 14th and the 17th October, were the companies Distribuidora El Carmen, Tecnoagro, Proexport, Agroesnica, Asociación Pueblos en Acción Comunitaria (Peoples Community Action Association), and Cooplari Fruvex.

Canada interested in tropical products from Honduras

Several Canadian companies have confirmed that they are interested in acquiring various fruits and vegetables to be distributed in Canada.

This is why representatives from the Joli Fruit company held talks with authorities from the National Agricultural Development Bank (Banadesa) in order to get them to grant credit to small farmers so that they can send greater amounts of tropical fruits to Canada.
