Don't Buy What You Will Use Only Once. Rent it.

The practical sharing economy is keeping pace with digital communications and logistics systems finely tuned to all size markets.

And this realization already extends beyond using Airbnb to rent an apartment for vacation or a using Uber to make a journey. If you need a drill for a couple of hours to hang new curtains, why buy it if it is something which afterwards you will only use occasionally? Rent it. Surely someone in your neighborhood has a drill that they once bought to hang their own curtains, and is willing to rent it for less than a new one costs.

This is the concept created by Peerby.com, connecting supply and demand of household goods, and even drones, within local communities.

The advance of digital communication is causing cultural changes reflected in new forms of economic interaction, one which companies must pay attention to.

It is quite possible that in the coming years the current paradigms that govern production, distribution and sales, will be replaced by others which are more in tune with the growing sharing economy.

A New York Times article illustrates the matter.
