The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reported that the behavior of the index in January 2018, which was placed under the barrier of 50 " ... can be considered cyclical if compared with the same period of time of previous years. In 2016 it went down to 38.3 (the historically lowest level of the whole indicator), in 2017 it stood at 40.2 and finally in 2018 at 45.1, falling again from 50.0+ in December to less than 50.0 in January. "

The AIRD adds that " ... regarding the behavior of the index according to the size of the companies, the fact that the fall of the index was more significant in the small companies (16-60 employees) which went from 59.0 in December 2017, to 35.4 in January 2018, is noteworthy, while the most moderate fall was suffered in large companies that went from 48.7 to 47.9 in that period. However, all company sizes were below 50.0. "

Regarding " ... the variables examined, four of them fell under the barrier of 50.0: Volume of sales, volume of production, Raw Material Inventory and employment, while Supply Delivery Time rose, but was still located under the barrier of 50.0. "
