Friday, December 1, 2017

From a report by the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD):

The Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity (IMAM) of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) recovered during the month of October after a sharp drop in September, rising from 45.0 to 55.0, placing itself above the 50 points barrier.  The graph shows the historical evolution of the Index.

The Index, above the 50 point barrier, is considered a negative positive signal (depending on the weighted value it means that manufacturing activities are on the rise).

Regarding the behavior of the IMAM according to the size of the companies, micro and small companies showed critical behavior. In Dominican microenterprises, the index fell from 74.0 in September to 46.3 in October of this year, while in small companies it fell for the fourth consecutive month, going from 62.9 in June to 41.1 in October.

In medium and large companies, after a sharp drop in September, it was once again placed above the 50.0 barrier at 56.8 and 57.9 points respectively.
