Dominican Republic: Business Outlook up to June

During the second quarter of 2019, of the total number of companies surveyed in the manufacturing sector, 31% stated that their level of production increased, while 43% indicated that they did not undergo changes.

According to the "Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion to the Manufacturing Sector", carried out by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, 26% of companies assured that their production level was lower than the previous quarter.

Review the document that "... When comparing the level of production with respect to the same quarter of the previous year, the indicator showed a 3.1 balance. Both indicators presented higher balances than those observed in the same quarter of 2018.

When investigating the factors that influenced the productive activity of the manufacturing companies surveyed, the increase in demand for the main products produced is highlighted as a factor that has had a positive impact.

In addition, marketing strategies, seasonal factors and increased productivity, among others. In another order, negatively affected production, rising prices of raw materials, exchange rate instability and increased competition in the market.
