Direct Flights to Honduras and Belize Announced

As of November 11 Transportes Aéreos Guatemaltecos will be offering weekday flights bound for Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and Belize.

In order to accomplish this Guatemalan Air Transport (TAG) has teamed up with the airlines CM from Honduras and Tropic Air from Belize. Jonathan Layton, president of TAG, said that "passengers will be able to go and return on the same day with these direct flights" which will arrive in the morning and return in the afternoon.

To be able to offer the service TAG has acquired three Saab 340 aircraft with capacity for 34 people. Each round trip ticket including taxes costs $399. "The destinations that are being promoted are Roatan in Honduras, Los Cayos in Belize and Antigua Guatemala and and Petén in Guatemala," said the official.

Plans Become Firm for Flights from Guatemala to Tapachula

The three weekly flights which were planned to run from last August by Aeromexico will start on November 4th and will depart on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Fernando del Cid, commercial manager for Guatemala at Aeromexico confirmed that the flights will depart from Tapachula at 9:45 and arrive in Guatemala at 10:30 and will leave Guatemala at 11:30 and arrive at 12:15 in Tapachula, in a ERJ50 jet with capacity for fifty people.

Copa Announces New Tampa-Panama Flight

Starting next December the airline will start flights between Tampa International Airport, Florida, and Tocumen in Panama.

The new route will link passengers from Tampa with Central American countries and those in South America, through Copa's hub in Panama.

No details have been released about the flight, to verify if Copa Airlines will use a Boeing 737 aircraft.

The company Transportes Aereos de Guatemala (TAG) announced that it aims to promote the country as a destination and increase tourism by 17%.

The general manager of TAG, Jonathan Layton, said the airline will offer air packages from Cancun to Flores, Petén and therefore increase tourism by 17% in Guatemala.
