Digital Paperwork for Industry

Authorities in Panama presented the initiative of a new digital platform, in which it will be possible to carry out procedures and processes related to the Registry of National Industry and Industrial Development Certificates.

Directors of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) presented the initiatives to develop a web platform with block chain technology and a web page with information, procedures and processes, to carry out formalities in the departments of industrial inspection and evaluation, such as the RIN and the CFI.

8-9-2019.  The National Council of Industrial Policy (CONAPI) held its first working session this week with the new authorities of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI), who join the representatives of the private sector, represented by the Union of Industrialists of Panama (SIP), the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), the Panamanian Association of Exporters (APEX) and the National Union of Agricultural Producers of Panama.
 
In this session, applications for registration in the National Industry Registry (RIN) were approved for the following companies: Baru Extractors, Panama Bimbo, Metal & Zinc Industries, Colón Packaging and Unique Concrete and Centennial Unique Concrete, making a total of 116 companies registered in the RIN, which may benefit from the benefits and incentives of the Industrial Development Law, such as the importation of raw materials with preferential tariffs.
 
Likewise, TuboTec S.A. was awarded an Industrial Development Certificate (CFI) after investing more than 2.3 million balboas in quality management and assurance systems, human resource training, and in the expansion of installed capacity.

Exports: Online Procedures in Panama

November 2020

Local authorities informed that as of November 11, exporters interested in carrying out their procedures electronically will be able to receive training on the use of the Certification of Origin in the online platform of the Customs Management System.

Exporting companies will be able to register by phone or by sending an e-mail to the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE), announced the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI). The VUCE enabled the mail: vuce@mici.gob.pa and the telephone 560-5890.

Online Paperwork for Exporters and Free Trade Zones

March 2019

From April, exporters and companies established in Panama's free trade zones will be able to carry out online procedures such as Declaration of Commercial Movement, Certification of Origin and Determination of Origin.

The companies in free trade zones that will be able to perform the three new online procedures will be those governed by Law 32, explained the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) in a statement.

Forty municipalities will be integrated into a single technology platform that will allow, among other things, for public service procedures to be carried out online.

Six months after the Industrial Promotion Law was approved, no companies have requested this document.

Investments in machinary, personnel and process development are eligible for the Industrial Promotion Certificates (CFIs in Spanish), which are requested from the Panamanian Ministry for Trade and Industry, in order to receive up to a 35% refund on the expenditure.
