Imports by Country
From January to March of this year, the main buyer of diapers and similar items in Central America was Honduras, with $19 million, followed by Panama, with $15 million, Guatemala, with $12 million, El Salvador, with $12 million, Nicaragua, with $10 million and Costa Rica, with $8 million.

Variation in Regional Imports
Between the first quarter of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value imported into Central America increased from $71 million to $76 million.

For the periods concerned, regional purchases from Mexico increased 23%, from $33 million to $40 million.

Origin of Imports
During the first three months of the year, 53% of the value imported from Central America came from Mexico, 10% from the U.S., 2% from Peru and 2% from China.

Mexico is the country of origin of Central American imports that has grown the most for the period concerned in the last eight years, since in 2012 represented 42% of the total value purchased and in 2019 reached 53%.
