Panamanian Companies, Main Buyers
From January to June of this year, the main buyer of diapers and similar items in Central America was Panama, with $31 million, followed by Honduras, with $30 million, Guatemala and El Salvador, with $24 million each, Nicaragua, with $21 million and Costa Rica, with $17 million.

Variation in Regional Imports
Between the first half of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value imported into Central America increased from $143 million to $151 million.

For the periods concerned, regional purchases from Mexico increased 14%, from $68 million to $78 million.

Origin of Imports
During the first six months of the year, 51% of the value imported from Central America came from Mexico, 11% from the U.S., 2% from Peru and 2% from China.

Mexico is the country of origin of Central American imports that has grown most for the period in question of the last eight years, since in 2012 represented 44% of the total value purchased and in 2019 reached 51%.
