Development of Tourism in Northern Guatemala

MIF will finance the study of the project for the benefit of 300 micro-enterprise and community tourism projects.

The agreement between the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Foundation for the Development of Guatemala (FUNDESA), allocated $1,337,780 to implement the “Definition and Management of a Tourist Destination in the North Cluster of the Cuatro Balam Area, in Petén."

According to Mipunto.com: "The project’s execution will last 36 months, with a budget of $1,337,780, of which the MIF will provide $907,780, PACUNAM a total of $215 thousand and GHF the remaining $215 thousand.
'The purpose of the project is to contribute to sustainable use of Guatemalan tourism as an icon of the Mayan culture,’ says the press release."
