Nicaragua, Main Exporter
During the second quarter of 2021, the main exporter of milk and dairy products to Central American countries continued to be Nicaragua with $97 million, followed by Costa Rica with $58.7 million, El Salvador with $26.8 million, Honduras with $15.2 million, Panama with $3.2 million and Guatemala with $1.1 million.

Intraregional Trade Behavior
Between the second quarter of 2020 and the same period of 2021, trade in milk and dairy products between Central American countries recorded an increase of 10.47%, rising from $182.8 million to $202 million.

In the case of volume traded, an increase of 88.1% was reported for the periods in question, from 90,957 tons to 171,090 tons.

Main Intraregional Buyer
From January to June, El Salvador was the main buyer of the other Central American countries, importing $90.3 million, followed by Guatemala with $58.7 million, Honduras with $11.6 million, Nicaragua with $7.6 million and Costa Rica with $5.9 million.
