Customs Union El Salvador - Honduras

An agreement has been announced to create a system of refunds of the Import Duty Tariff, which is already working to ensure that the procedures in each border post are performed in a single office.

Friday, July 10, 2015

El Salvador has internally made progress on the process of customs integration with Honduras, which aims to establish a single post at the border crossing.

Luz Estrella Rodríguez, vice minister of Economy told Laprensagrafica.com that "... 'the process means integrating with delegates from both countries ... to make simultaneous procedures, avoid the repetitive processes that are currently made within the border of El Salvador and then repeated on the border of Honduras'. "

Rodriguez also "... announced that the Central American countries reached an agreement on a mechanism for repayment of the Tariff Import Duty (DAI by its initials in Spanish), a requirement that arose in the negotiations with the European Union (EU) when the Association Agreement (AA) was signed whose trade pillar promised open trade and investment opportunities between the two regions.
