Main importers  
Among the main importers in the region in 2016 were Belcorp, Avon, BDF Centroamérica, Colgate, Arabela, Almacenes Simán and Unilever. Altogether they  make up approximately 30% of the total bought by Central American countries.

Variation of regional imports 
Between 2015 and 2016, the value of imported beauty and personal hygiene items declined slightly, going from $482 million in 2015 to $477 million in 2016. 

The value imported from Colombia increased by 14%, growing from $46 million in 2015 to $52 million in 2016.

Imports by country 
In 2016 the main importer in Central America was Guatemala with $104 million, followed by Costa Rica with $102 million, El Salvador with $79 million, Panama with $77 million, Honduras with $63 million and Nicaragua with $52 million. 

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 33% of the value imported from Central America came from Mexico, 21% from the USA, 11% from Colombia, 3% from France, 3% from Spain and 2% from Brazil.
