Costa Rica's January-May exports up by 7.8 percent

Costa Rica increased its exports by 7.8 percent between January and May of this year, with almost all productive sectors showing improvement.

Only bananas and melons failed to show an increase, the Ministry of Foreign Trade reported in a news release.
Total exports for the period were 4.175 billion dollars, an increase of about 300 million dollars from the same period in 2007.
Coffee and pineapple exports rose by 23 percent, and overall the agriculture sector's exports were 9.5 percent above year-earlier figures.

In the first two months of 2013, Costa Rican exported goods worth $1.884 billion, representing growth of 4.2%.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica (COMEX) reads:

In the first two months of 2013, total exports of Costa Rican goods reached $1.884 billion.

Costa Rica's Exports Grow 12%

The U.S. is the main destination for Costa Rican exports, accounting for 38.8% of cumulative exports between January and May, followed by the Netherlands (8.5%) and China (7.7%).

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Trade reads:

El Salvador's January-May exports grow by 19%

El Salvador's exports broke all records in the January-May period this year, growing at 19.4 percent compared with 2007 and totalling 1.906 billion dollars.

The Central Reserve Bank reports that the increase is due in part to the sale of non-traditional products, the good performance of the maquila sector, and the growth of coffee exports, which have brought in 50 percent more revenues than last year.

Nicaragua reports higher exports

Exports from Nicaragua have increased by 30.5 percent during the first half of 2008, compared with the same period a year earlier.

The January-June exports totalled 835.3 million dollars, up from 640.6 million dollars in the first half of 2007, according to a report issued by the Center for Processing Exports (CETREX) in its preliminary monthly report.
