Costa Rican Exports Increase 6%

Due to the performance of the manufacturing sector, from January to September of this year the country reported $8.473 million in foreign sales, 6% more than that recorded in the same period of 2017.

According to figures from the Foreign Trade Promoter of Costa Rica (Procomer), in the first nine months of the year exports of precision and medical equipment represented 28% of total sales, and registered an increase of 14% compared to what was reported in the same period in 2017.

Procomer's report details that sales in the agricultural sector represented 26% of total sales reported from January to September, and its increase compared to the first three quarters of last year was 2%.

Regarding the destination of exports, the document states that 44% of the total value was destined for North America, 22% for Europe, 22% for Central America, 6% for Asia, 4% for the Caribbean and 2% for South America.

The latest report from Costa Rica's Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer), details that last year exports of precision and medical equipment represented 29% of total sales and recorded an 18% increase compared to what was reported in 2017.

Honduras: Exports Go Down 3%

Between January and October of this year, sales abroad totaled $3.785 million, registering a decrease of almost 3% compared to the total accumulated in the same period of 2017.

The Central Bank of Honduras reported that in the first ten months of the year the value of exports totaled US$3,784.6 million, showing a 2.8% decrease (US$107.9 million) compared to October 2017, evolution basically related to the reduction in sales of coffee, palm oil, used gold accessories and shrimp, partly reduced by greater external shipments of paper and cardboard, zinc and plastic and their manufactures.

The Central Bank of Honduras reported that by the third quarter of 2018, FOB exports of general merchandise totaled US$3,499.2 million, lower by 2.8% (US$101.6 million) compared to September 2017, mostly because of a decrease in sales of coffee, palm oil, used gold accessories and shrimp; a result that was partially balanced by the increase in external shipments of paper and cardboard, zinc and plastic and their manufactures.

Costa Rica: Exports Up 6%

June 2018

During the first five months of the year the country sold abroad for $4.719 billion worth of goods, which is equivalent to an increase of 6.4% over the same period in 2017.

According to the figures of the Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer), from January to May, exports from Costa Rica to the other countries in the Central American region totaled $1.049 billion, 9% more than the $959 million registered in the same period in 2017.
