Costa Rica expects increase in tourist arrivals

The minister of tourism, Carlos Benavides, predicted that they will close the year, 2008, with a 10% increase in tourist visits.

"I believe that this is going to be a good year for Costa Rica regarding tourist arrivals and we hope to end the year with a 10% growth in arrivals in comparison to 2007," Benavides declared to the AFP.
"This growth is five times the global performance, which the ITO (International Tourism Organization) calculated at 2% per country," the minister pointed out.

In the first half of the year tourists arrivals to the country nearly doubled compared to the same period in 2010.

There was a record of 1.5 million visitors making it one of the sectors with the most development during 2008.

According to pa-digital.com.pa, "projections at the end of 2008 indicate that the figure could read 1.6 million visitors, recording a growth of 14.3% compared to 2007.

Tourist arrivals in Panama grow 14.2%

December 2008

The number of tourist arrivals from January to October 2008 grew to 1.23 million, 153 thousand more than for the same period last year.

Just in October alone, 25 thousand tourists more than last year entered the country; this is a growth of 25.4%. The best growth was for maritime tourist arrivals according to preliminary data, coinciding with the start of the new cruise ship season, which improved by 83.5% compared to last year.
