Costa Rica: $ 24 Million for Central American Games

The country will invest $ 24 million in organizing the 2013 Central American Games.

Investment include construction of a Sports City in Hatillo, athlete preparation, logistics and remodeling of existing facilities, informed Johnny Araya, mayor of the Municipality of San José and president of the Organizing Committee.

"What is not included in that amount is the renovation of the National Gymnasium and construction of the Sports Village," Araya stated to Nacion.com.

The funds will be contributed by the Municipality of San Jose, the National Olympic Committee, the central government and the private sector.

Construction of Sports Center Planned

In Costa Rica the municipality of Escazú plans to invest $6 million in the construction of a sports village, which will include a gym for 1,500 people, an amphitheater, confectionery store and function rooms.

The Comptroller General of the Republic has authorized the Municipality of Escazú to build a sports village on a plot of land in the district of San Antonio.

Sports Infrastructure for $40 million Announced

The government of Costa Rica has announced that it is working on a tender to be launched in early 2017 for the construction of a 25 thousand square meter aquatic center and a 36,000 meter sports center in San Jose.

$ 3 Million Sports Complex in Guatemala

The government will invest by building a sports center in the Roosevelt area.

Construction is planned in two phases, the first ending in December and the second phase to be built next year.

Prensalibre.com. informs, "... the project includes five soccer fields with synthetic grass and two sports courts, in addition to lighting, running track, locker rooms, two clinics, parking, landscaping and administration.”
