Costa Rica: $ 24 Million for Central American Games

The country will invest $ 24 million in organizing the 2013 Central American Games.

Investment include construction of a Sports City in Hatillo, athlete preparation, logistics and remodeling of existing facilities, informed Johnny Araya, mayor of the Municipality of San José and president of the Organizing Committee.

"What is not included in that amount is the renovation of the National Gymnasium and construction of the Sports Village," Araya stated to

The funds will be contributed by the Municipality of San Jose, the National Olympic Committee, the central government and the private sector.

Construction of Sports Center Planned

In Costa Rica the municipality of Escazú plans to invest $6 million in the construction of a sports village, which will include a gym for 1,500 people, an amphitheater, confectionery store and function rooms.

The Comptroller General of the Republic has authorized the Municipality of Escazú to build a sports village on a plot of land in the district of San Antonio.
