Costa Rica: Year on Year Inflation to July 2017 is 1.16%

In July the consumer price index rose by 0.32%, with cumulative inflation in the year at 1.33% and 1.16% in year-on-year terms.

From a report by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Costa Rica:

The groups with the highest contribution to the variation of the CPI in July were: Food and non-alcoholic drinks and Transport. Of the 315 goods and services that make up the consumer basket, 48% increased in price, 36% decreased in price and 16% did not change.  Click to interact with graphicsClick to interact with graphics

In July the goods and services that had the greatest positive effect were: tomatos, sweet peppers and onions. On the other hand, culantro, gasoline and automobiles were among the main ones with the greatest negative effect.

In the month July of the last ten years, the highest year-on-year percentage change occurred in 2008 with 14.17%; while 2015 was the year with the only negative interannual variation (-0.32%) recorded.

In September, the consumer price index varied by 0.25%, mainly explained by transportation and health prices.

The most important results up to September are the monthly variation of 0.25%, accumulated inflation from January to September of 1.37% and annual inflation of 1.64%.

September 2017

In August the consumer price index fell by 0.22%, with accumulated inflation in the year standing at 1.11% and year-on-year inflation at 0.91%.

The groups with the highest contribution to the variation of the CPI in August were: Food and non-alcoholic drinks and Meals outside the home and accommodation services.

Costa Rica: YoY Inflation to June 2017 is 1.77%

July 2017

In June the consumer price index rose by 0.08%, with accumulated inflation in the year being 1.01% and the year-on-year figure 1.77%.
