Costa Rica: Tourism Figures for June 2015

In the first half of the year 1.4 million tourists visted the country, only 1.7% more than in the same period in 2014.

From a statement issued by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT):

In the first six months of the year, our country received 1,415,046 international arrivals; that is, more than 23,429 tourists entered through all ports, according to data provided by the Directorate General of Immigration (DGME) and analyzed by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).

In addition, air travel showed a very positive trend, because in the first half of the year it grew by 4.4% compared to the same period last year.

Tourist Arrivals Grew 4% up to June 2019

During the first half of the year, 1.73 million visitors arrived in Costa Rica, a figure 3.9% higher than that reported in the same period in 2018, behavior that is explained by the rise in the arrival of tourists from North America.

Figures from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute specify that only during June of this year, the arrival of 249 thousand visitors was registered, 11% more than those reported in the same month of 2018.

More American Tourists in Costa Rica

In the first quarter of the year the number of tourists who flew the US grew 6% compared to the same period in 2017.

After a period of uncertainty, the flow of American tourists has once again registered an increase in the first three months of the year. Specifically, 21,337 more Americans came into the country than between January and March of 2017.

Tourism Numbers in El Salvador

Between January and July 2014 the number of tourists who came into the country increased by 4.7% compared to the same period in 2013, and they spent on average $108.6 per day, which is 3% more.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador:

The main tourism indicators (employment, income, daily expenses, lodging, number of visitors) reported significant growth in the first seven months of the year, confirming the strength of the tourism industry in the Salvadoran economy. The indicator for job creation in tourism in the month of June 2014 shows an increase of 5.93% compared to the same month in 2013, with more than 48,893 versus the 46,154 jobs recorded in 2013.

Increase in Influx of Tourists to Panama

August 2012

In the first seven months of the year 1,236,000 visitors came to the country, 5.4% more than the in same period in 2011, with the majority of tourists coming from the U.S.

The increase in the number of visitors has not been sufficient to cover the greater supply of hotels, which experienced a drop in occupancy rates of 7%.
