Costa Rica: Prices Increase 2.2% up to September 2018

The consumer price index recorded a monthly variation of 0.22% in the ninth month of the year, mostly explained by the positive effect of transport and clothing and footwear prices.

From the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Costa Rica report:

From the 315 goods and services that constitute the consumer basket, 54% increased in price, 36% decreased in price and 10% did not change.

The goods and services that registered the greatest positive effect in September were automobiles, gasoline and watermelon. On the other hand, onion, potato and fish fillet ranked among the main ones with the greatest negative effect.

In September of the last ten years, the highest year-on-year change occurred in 2013 with 5.37%, while 2015 recorded the only negative year-on-year change (-0.86%).

The consumer price index showed a monthly variation of 0,15%, accumulating inflation so far this year of 0,70%.

Costa Rica: Annual Inflation up to November 2016 is 0.56%

December 2016

The consumer price index registered no monthly change, putting annual inflation at 0.56%, and inflation accumulated so far this year remains at 0.37%.

The groups with the greatest contribution to the CPI in September 2016 were Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Transport.
