Costa Rica Prepares Purchase of Vaccines

The Costa Rican Social Security Department has announced that it will buy 1.3 million doses of flu vaccine in the coming months.

As part of a national vaccination program against influenza, the Costa Rican Social Security Department (CCSS) is preparing for the acquisition of 1.3 million doses, about 100,000 more than were bought last year. In 2016 investment in these vaccines amounted to $4 million.

Arroba Roberto Tijerina, Immunization Coordinator, told, "... that the trivalent vaccine will be purchased: with two strains of influenza A and one strain of influenza B." The vaccination campaign will begin in May.

One Million Vaccines Against Influenza

Costa Rica is still increasing the volume of its purchases of seasonal influenza vaccines, and has confirmed that it will use those corresponding to the southern hemisphere.

The Costa Rican Social Security Department has announced it will buy one million influenza vaccines for 2016, aimed at use by minors, the elderly and health professionals providing direct care.

Panama: Medicines Tender Being Prepared

April 2015

The Social Security Department is preparing for the end of April the documents for the tender of 514 different types of drugs classified as essential, chronic and not so essential.

This tender will be held in the form of unit price and aims to secure the provision of drugs for one year. The amount of investment has not yet been defined, nor the details of the specifications to be established.
