Costa Rica: Pharmaceutical Invests in BPO

The Swiss-based pharmaceutical company Lonza will be opening a shared services center in San José, from where it will provide accounting and finance services to the company's operations in America.

From a statement issued by the CINDE:

San José, October 31 2017.  Lonza, one of the world's leading and most trusted suppliers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and specialty products markets, announced today that it plans to open a shared services center in Costa Rica to serve the company's operation in the Americas. . 

Lonza will create about 65 jobs in the country by the end of the year. The positions will mainly include accounting and finance jobs. The new Lonza shared services center will be located in Escazu Village.  

To fill the available positions, Lonza is looking for fully bilingual candidates (English and Spanish) and professionals with financial knowledge. In addition, the company will be hiring personnel for human resources roles.

Pharmaceutical Company Sets Up Financial Services Center

The company AstraZeneca has announced the start-up of a financial services center in Costa Rica, from where it will provide support to the company's operations in Latin America.

A statement issued by the CINDE states that the service center will be named Integrated Finance Solutions (IFS) Americas Center, and will be located in Escazú, where the pharmaceutical company already has its regional offices for Central America, Caribbean Ecuador and Peru.

Amway Opens Service Center in Costa Rica

The direct sales company invested $2 million to open a service center.

The first shared service center for the Americas will provide financial and accounting services for the region and in its first two years of operation will generate 160 direct jobs.

"This is the company's first venture into the shared services market and with near-shoring outsourcing", reported newspaper La Prensa Libre.
