In economic crisis, financial entities offer their clients new options of credit and savings.

Incorporating into the second tier banking system, Fundecooperación can authorize credits to an organization and at the same time make loans to its members. The credits should conform to one of the following areas: sustainable agriculture, sustainable tourism, gender equality, and clean technologies.

Leticia Vindas writes in El Financiero’s website: “Grupo Mutual Alajuela La Vivienda launched its product “Multisavings.” It is a service that allows clients to define goals and objectives for savings and, with the help of Grupo Mutual representatives, designates the necessary amount into a savings account in order to achieve them.”

Salvadoran Credit Unions have experienced a significant increase in the last year in order to expand financial services in most areas of the country.

The government has provided the bank with $61 million so that producers and business people have access to credit.

The bank, which only made loans to the agricultural sector, will now also lend to the commercial and services sector.

The Tribune published on its website: "According to government officials, the credit system is being eased in favor of producers and business people to cope with this year’s global economic crisis because the private sector is not doing it."
