Costa Rica: Legislative Assembly Building Announced

The project valued at $97 million includes a competition for the design and construction plans, demolition, earthworks, main building, and restoration of other buildings.

From a statement issued by the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica:

San Jose, March 11, 2016. Construction of a new building for the Legislative Assembly will start in the second half of 2016. The construction plans are already in the final phase of processing with the Association of Engineers and Architects, and in late March demolition will begin of infrastructure on the land located on the west side of the main building, between Central and First Avenue, Calle 15, at the site of Lamm Apartments, and other surrounding buildings, in an approximate area of ​​5,000 m2.

The design of the new site was presented on March 11 at a press conference given by members of the Board of the Legislative Assembly, with the participation of the Association of Engineers and Architects, the Ministry of Culture and Youth, representatives of Setena and the state banks BCR, Banco Nacional and Banco Popular; and the architect and winner of the contest, Javier Salinas.

Costa Rica: Tender for INS Building for $2.8 million

The National Insurance Institute (INS) has put out to tender the construction of a new building for its headquarters in Guadalupe.

According to the specifications the tender is for the procurement of professional services (architectural and engineering) to conduct preliminary studies, preliminary design of construction drawings, specifications, detailed budget, carry out the demolition of the existing building and construct the new site for the National Insurance Institute using a prefabricated system in Guadalupe, San Jose.
