Costa Rica: Investment in Agribusiness

The private equity fund Caseif III managed by Lafise LP has announced the acquisition of a factory making aseptic banana puree and concentrate frozen banana, called Gerber Ingredients.

The Gerber Ingredients factory is located in the Industrial Park in Cartago. According to El Financiero, the transaction is in the final stage of formalization and evaluation by the Government.

Elfinancierocr.com reports that "... Caseif III LP said that the factory producing aseptic mashed bananas and frozen banana concentrate, in which more than 400 people work, will continue to operate normally, maintaining facilities, working conditions and contractual quality standards."

"Gerber Ingredients S.A, has all the conditions to develop the potential of the business: infrastructure, equipment, processes and human capital. Through a strategic support in product diversification, distribution and sales channels, we are convinced that we will strengthen business operations," said Hugo Chaves, director of Investments for the Fund for Costa Rica. Caseif III LP has authorized capital of $60 million.

Industrialization of Bananas in Nicaragua
