Costa Rica: Inflation Still Down

The inflationary rhythm slowed for the third consecutive month, as in October the CPI reported a 2.07% year-on-year variation, below the 2.53% reported in September.

The groups with the greatest contribution to the variation of the CPI in October are: Transport, and Food and non-alcoholic beverages. Of the 315 goods and services that make up the consumption basket, 49% increase in price, 40% decreased in price and 11% showed no variation, informed the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses.

The official report explains that "... During October, the goods and services that showed the greatest negative effect were: gasoline, electricity and potatoes. On the other hand, tomatoes, dental services and tourist packages were among the main ones with the greatest positive effect.

In October of the last ten years, the highest year-on-year variation was presented in 2014 with 5.70%, while in 2015 the only negative year-on-year variation was registered (-0.86%).

In Costa Rica, the inflationary rhythm slowed for the fourth consecutive month, as in November the CPI reported a year-on-year variation of 1.86%, below the 2.07% reported in October.

During November, the goods and services that showed the greatest positive effect were: onion, gasoline and tourist packages.

Costa Rica: Year on Year Inflation to July 2017 is 1.16%

August 2017

In July the consumer price index rose by 0.32%, with cumulative inflation in the year at 1.33% and 1.16% in year-on-year terms.

From a report by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Costa Rica:

The groups with the highest contribution to the variation of the CPI in July were: Food and non-alcoholic drinks and Transport. Of the 315 goods and services that make up the consumer basket, 48% increased in price, 36% decreased in price and 16% did not change.  [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Honduras: Year on Year Inflation in April 2017 is 4,10%

May 2017

In April the consumer price index registered a variation of 0.37% with respect to March, and a cumulative variation so far in the year of 2.03%.

From the monthly report by the Central Bank of Honduras:

The Consumer Price Index recorded a monthly growth of 0.37% in April 2017, mainly due to an increase in residential electricity rates and the price of some housing maintenance services, therefore, year-on-year inflation was 4.10% and accumulated inflaction 2.03% (2.44% and 1.26% at April 2016, respectively). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]
