Costa Rica: ICE to get broadband satellite services from Gilat

The Costa Rica Institute of Electricity (ICE) will use this satellite networkd to improve rural telecommunication and provide interconnection for wireless internet services.

Gilat Satellite Networks announced today in a press release that it has been selected by the ICE to provide its SkyEdge broadband satellite communications network.

ICE announced that it will used the VSAT network to improve the quality of rural telephone services, meeting its obligation to provide universal services. The network will also provide support for the wireless internet service.

"After evaluating the offers of VSAT networks, we determined that Gilat's SkyEdge has a high level of performance and economy that makes it ideal for expanding telephone and internet access in rural areas."

Awards: Telecoms Projects for $10 million

$6 Million WiMAX contract awarded by Costa Rica's ICE

Gilat Provides Broadband To Honduran Customs

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. has deployed a SkyEdge broadband satellite network for Aduanett, a private company owned by Honduras' leading customs brokers.

Aduanett will use the VSAT network to provide customs offices and other Honduran businesses with private networking services including interactive data, broadband Internet access and Voice Over Internet Protocol.
