Costa Rica: Growth in BPO Investments

Roche Pharmaceuticals has announced an investment of $5 million to expand its service and distribution center, from where it serves 23 countries in the region where it operates.

From a statement issued by the Government of Costa Rica:

Heredia, Costa Rica. -12 August 2015 The pharmaceutical company La Roche today inaugurated its new service and distribution center in the country, which will optimize its operations serving 23 countries in Central America and the Caribbean. Thanks to the investment of $5.5 million, the company will also expand its storage capacity for biotechnology products and implement cutting-edge technologies in the building, committing to the highest environmental and energy saving standards in the world.

The new center has ​​5,000 square meters, 1100 more than the previous building and is located in the free zone Ultrapark in La Aurora de Heredia. A large part of the expansion will be made in the area for distribution, 2200 meters square- reflecting the growth of the operation at the regional level and it is expected to increase exports by 50% over the next five years. Also, the new building will see the opening of 40 specialized jobs, which will join the 175 direct and indirect employees which the pharmaceutical company currently has.
