Costa Rica: Financial Firm Changes Ownership

Financiera G&T Continental Costa Rica announced the sale of 100% of its shares to a group of Central American investors.

Precise the relevant fact published on June 19 by the Superintendencia General de Valores (Sugeval), which completes the purchase-sale of the "... shares of the entire capital stock of Financiera GT Continental Costa Rica S.A. by the company called 3-101-771084 S.A."

Regarding the group of investors that bought the shares, Elfinancierocr.com reports that "... The company keeps this information private. Only it was indicated that the group that acquired the financial has trajectory in the regional financial market."

The article adds that "... The entity will operate on a regular basis with the current team of collaborators, who 'will soon be sharing the vision and plans for growth in this new stage,' said the statement sent to EF. In the coming weeks they will announce the new plans and the change of name of the financial firm."

Financiera G&T Continental is the smallest in the country, with total assets of $14.3 million up to May 2019.

The group, owner of MiBanco, is negotiating to purchase 60% of “Grupo Financiero Rapi Préstamos” for $1.6 million.

The deal could be closed by the end of March.

“Fernando Sucre Míguez, president of MiBanco S.A., informed that the remaining 40% was offered to business groups from the Chiriquí province”.
