Costa Rica: Exports Up 8%

The 8% increase in November 2017 was mainly explained by food and precision equipment and medical exports, which grew by 7% and 12%, respectively.

Procomer figures indicate that manufacturing exports grew by 11% and agricultural exports by 4%, while those in the metalworking sector increased by 33% compared to November 2016.

The total value exported up to November 2017 amounted to $9,873 million, and the interannual increase by type of regime was 11% for free zone exports and 5% for goods exported by the companies in the definitive regime.

Costa Rica: Exports Up 6%

During the first five months of the year the country sold abroad for $4.719 billion worth of goods, which is equivalent to an increase of 6.4% over the same period in 2017.

According to the figures of the Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer), from January to May, exports from Costa Rica to the other countries in the Central American region totaled $1.049 billion, 9% more than the $959 million registered in the same period in 2017.

In the first quarter of the year, exports of goods grew by 9% compared to the same period in 2016, led by the free zone, which registered a 17% increase.

Exports of goods in the first quarter showed a growth of 9% compared to the same period in the previous year.
