Costa Rica: Exports Up 6%

During the first five months of the year the country sold abroad for $4.719 billion worth of goods, which is equivalent to an increase of 6.4% over the same period in 2017.

n dir="ltr">According to the figures of the Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer), from January to May, exports from Costa Rica to the other countries in the Central American region totaled $1.049 billion, 9% more than the $959 million registered in the same period in 2017.

For the periods in question, exports made to the European Union registered an increase of 5.8%, rising from $968 million to $1.024 billion.

In the first five months of the year, the total amount sold abroad increased by 6.4% with respect to the amount reported for the same previous period, surpassing the 5.2% reported between the months of 2016 and 2017.

Honduras: Exports Fall 3% up to I Semester

Between January and June of this year, sales abroad totaled $2.486 billion, registering a decrease of 2.7% with respect to what was accumulated in the same period in 2017.

From a report by the Central Bank of Honduras: 

Regarding regional destinations, North America remains in first position, with the United States of America (USA) being the main commercial partner of Honduras with 35.2% of total exports, followed by the markets of Europe which demanded 32.7% of the total and Central America with a share of 18.9% of the total.

Between January and May of this year, sales abroad totaled $2.091 billion, registering a decrease of almost 2% with respect to the amount accumulated in the same period in 2017.

A report of the Central Bank of Honduras states that "... Agroindustrial activities generated foreign currency of US $1.137 billion, which represents a decrease of US $142.7 million in relation to the amount obtained in the interval from January to May in the previous year; essentially because of a reduction of US $133.3 million in coffee exports, a fact linked to the 14.6% drop in the international price of coffee (existence of an oversupply of coffee in the world market and the speculation of a better harvest by Brazil)."

Guatemala: Exports Down 2%

June 2018

During the first four months of the year, the country's sales totalled $3.777 billion, 2% less than the $3.855 million reported in the same period in 2017.

According to figures from the Banco de Guatemala in April 2018, the country exported $924 million, which is equivalent to a 3% decrease compared to the same month in the previous year.

Guatemala exports spur larger flow of currency

July 2008

Despite a negative external trade balance of 3.354 billion dollars, Guatemala's exports for the first six months of 2008 increased by 13.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to figures from the Bank of Guatemala, foreign sales for the first half of the year totalled 2.650 billion dollars, an increase of 412.9 million dollars over 2007.
