Costa Rica Exports Grow 4.2% in First Two Months of 2013

In the first two months of 2013, Costa Rican exported goods worth $1.884 billion, representing growth of 4.2%.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica (COMEX) reads:

In the first two months of 2013, total exports of Costa Rican goods reached $1.884 billion. Growth in the past 12 months is 7.2%, and the cumulative growth in first two months of this year is 4.2%. This data was obtained from the latest export report released by the Foreign Trade Corporation of Costa Rica (PROCOMER).

In the period covering March 2012 to February 2013, the free zone regime grew by 10.4%, while the definitive regime did so by 2.6%. Meanwhile, the macrosectors of livestock and fisheries and industry showed positive results for the same 12-month period, with increases of 19% and 9.3%, respectively.

Costa Rican Exports Up 8%

During the first three months of the year the country's sales abroad totaled $2.738 billion, 8% more than the $2.532 billion reported in the same period in 2017.

According to figures from the Ministry of Foreign Trade, between January and March the products that accelerated exports were medical supplies, pineapples, syrups, palm oil, antisera and sugar.

Two months before the end of 2012, exports of goods continued their positive momentum and amounted to $9.42 billion, surpassing the $678 million reported in the same period last year.
