Costa Rica: Construction Prices - August 2017

The price indices of buildings and social interest housing recorded year-on-year changes of 6.55% and 3.19%, respectively, in the eighth month of the year.

From a statement issued by the National Institute of Statistics and Census:

Price indices for construction based on February 2012 are a set of twenty statistical indicators, which measure the change in prices of materials used in the construction of different kinds of works. They are composed of the buildings price index, the social housing price index, and a group of nineteen price indices for raw materials and special services.

In August 2017, the variations of each of these price indices were:

Buildings price index (percentage changes August 2017)  
Monthly: 1.82% (August 2017)
Interannual: 6.55% (September 2016 to August 2017)

The level of the building price index is 104,256, while in the previous month it was 102,393.  The elements that showed the greatest positive contribution in the monthly variation of August 2017 were: grade 40 rods and grade 60 rods.

Price index of social housing (percentage changes August 2017)
Monthly: 0.84% (August 2017)
Interannual: 3.19% (September 2016 to August 2017)

The level of the index for prices of social interest housing is 103,765, while in the previous month it was 102,895. The elements that showed the greatest positive contribution in the monthly variation of August 2017 were: rod # 4 grade 40 and RTG structure.
