Costa Rica: Promotion of SMEs centralized

In an attempt to reduce costs and improve the use of resources devoted to the subject, a bill proposes integrating into a single institution the organizations dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship.

The aim of the bill is for the current bodies DIGEPYME, INAPYME, PRONAMYPE, FODEMIPYME, PROPYME and CONICIT to be integrated into a single entity and a with single fund to maximize resources, reduce paperwork and costs. In this way around $34 million would be integrated to create more efficient and targeted benefits to the productive sector.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Communications:

San Jose November 27, 2015. A bill has been signed for the creation of the Agency for Productive Development, Innovation and Value Added FOMPRODUCE Costa Rica, which aims to invigorate business development to contribute to economic growth, employment generation, providing conditions and promoting actions to facilitate business and avoid duplication.
