Costa Rica: Amazon to hire 700 people

Amazon, the leader in the sale of good over the Internet, will open its first customer service center in Latin America at the end of November in Heredia, Costa Rica.

Alejandro Filloy, country manager, said that by December they hope to have employed some 700 Costa Rican who are fluent in English to attend to the queries of online Amazon buyers.
In order to start operations next month, the company will hire 300 employees. Later they will hire another 400.
The company preferred not to release the amount they have invested here, however Filloy said that the investment is one that is "very significant withing the organization."

Amazon Expands Operations in Costa Rica

The transnational has announced the expansion of its service center in Calle Blancos which will go from occupying 3,000 m² to 7,000 m².

"With this, the total area occupied by the company in Costa Rica at the end of 2013 will be around 23,000 m². Amazon has three service centers in Costa Rica," explained the company.

New Amazon Operations Center

The company will open its third hub in the free zone of Calle Blancos in the Costa Rican capital, San Jose.

From their new center in a free zone situated in Calle Blancos, the company of U.S. origin, will support customers in the U.S. and Latin America.

The opening is scheduled for Thursday August 30, 2012.

Amazon, the world’s largest internet retailer, is to establish a customer contact centre in Costa Rica, as its steps up its efforts to woo Spanish speaking customers both in the US and in Latin America.

The retailer is planning to open a Latin America contact centre in San Jose in Costa Rica, with between 100 and 150 staff, in its first direct presence in Latin America.
